How do I read user logs?

Everything that is done on your site is logged in an easy to read format. Only administrators such as yourself can view these logs. It's a good idea to check these now and then to see what people are using on the site. To read the administration logs:

  1. Choose the Usage Log item of your site's User Manager menu.
  2. This is the usage log for your site. The three columns:
    • Name: This is the user who performed the action. If the user is logged in, their name is a link which leads to their profile. If the user is not logged in, this field is blank.
    • Action: This is a human-readable description of what the user did.
    • Path: This is the URL that the user requested. Click the link to go to that page. Note: some pages will not work.
    • Date: The time when the action was performed.
  3. Only the 50 most recent entries are shown. Use the "Previous" and "Next" links at the bottom of the page to move beyond these.
  4. If you wish to search for the actions of a certain user, type their username (not their display name!) in the "Username" box at the top of this page, and click the "Show Log" button.
  5. If you want to search for text in the "Action" field, type the text in the "Search" box at the top of the page and click the "Show Log" button.
